Following What Is Unfolding
Follow what is unfolding.
It is something I often tell my clients and is a mantra that I have put into practice in my own life.
One of the things I struggle with most is the aspect of control. I am a recovering control freak and it is this control that often has me planning, overthinking, and trying to determine and at times control outcomes.
And, as will often happen with life, the unexpected happens - things that are out of my control - and it teaches me all over again that I really have very little control at all.
The one thing that we all can control however is how we respond to people and the unexpected things that life throws our way.
Rather than react, I can take a moment and respond and in so doing greatly increase the chances that my response is the right one.
I have found that following what is unfolding enables me to hold things loosely. It allows my curiosity to lead to exploration rather than judgment, and while I continue to plan, it means I do not have to be a slave to those plans and I have the freedom to change and adapt as needed - and do it with joy.
Following what is unfolding is one of the ways we open ourselves up to opportunities that we may have otherwise missed and can lead us to the grandest of unexpected places.
How about you?
Are you trying to control things and holding on too tightly? What would change if you shifted your mindset to follow what is unfolding?
On the journey with you,
Carlos
