The Joy Of Letting Go

In his book, No Mud, No Lotus, author, and Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh says the following, "there is a kind of joy that comes from letting go."

I posted this quote in a LinkedIn article I wrote about five years ago when I left a business I had co-founded in 2005.

I was letting go of that business and moving on to my next chapter, and at the time I had no idea what that chapter was going to be.

The act of letting go of this role, this company, and the identity I tied to it was hard, trying, and nerve-racking, but there was no mistaking that this was the right move.

Since that post, I have been continually challenged and found more joy in the art of letting go.

As a recovering control freak, I have found that the more I am able to hold things loosely, the more joy and contentment I find.

It has been a big change for me, but one that has been foundational to allowing Susanne and I to continue to live out our own life design.

We make our plans, and we have our vision for what we want, but we also know that we do not control what life will bring our way and will have to adapt.

The difference is that now, I am able to adapt joyfully; as I am continually learning to let go and hold things loosely.

Are you holding onto things that may be keeping you from designing your life and keeping joy and fulfillment at bay?

If you are, start the process of letting go and take note of the changes you feel and how life will open up!

On the journey with you,

Carlos

P.S. In following this approach, I have an exciting announcement that I will be making next week. Stay tuned!
