Say My Name!

Have you ever had moments in your life when you have felt stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed?

I already know the answer . . . of course you have. We all have; we are all human.

Even as one who practices Life Design, I still have moments of angst and stress, but here is a little secret that has helped me with it and I want to share it with you.

When I am feeling this way, rather than bottle it up and try to ignore it as I did in the past, I call it out and verbally recognize the feeling.

It happened to me this week.

I had a day where things kept piling up, deliverables seemed to be running behind and I could feel the stress mounting (I feel mine in my chest and shoulders - take notice of where you feel yours).

I looked at Susanne and as I have done many times before just said "I am feeling so anxious and stressed right now with all that I have to get done today."

Here was the beauty in just saying it - the circumstances of the day did not change, but I physically felt a difference and my stress level decreased.

Why?

Because I called it out, I recognized it and was able to express and expose it.

In essence, I took all the power away from it and brought it back to myself - a little Life Design hack that has served both Susanne and me very well.

As humans, we are wired with emotions, but we do not have to let our emotions rule us.

We can acknowledge them, express them and continue to design how we live our lives moment to moment.

Next time you are faced with a similar circumstance, express it to someone close, contact me if you want at carlos@yourlifedesignjourney.com and we will find a time for me to listen.

On The Journey With You,

Carlos
