Why Can't You?

I was in a recent conversation with a friend of mine whom I had not spoken with in some time.

I was bringing him up to speed on our move back to the Adirondacks, the RV travel we did in 2021, my new job, and some of our upcoming travel plans

After getting the run down he laughed and iresponded by saying, "man, you are certainly living you're living your best life!"

He is not wrong.

I answered the same thing to another friend last week on a phone call when he asked how I was doing?

It is interesting to me that when I share with people the life Susanne and I are living, the places we have been and the decisions we have made, the response I get most often is "I wish I could do that."

And my response is always the same, "why can't you?"

It is that question that usually leads to silence or a list of reasons why they cannot.

I get it!

For years I had my list of reasons why I could not live the life I really wanted including:

  • I could not leave my agency
  • I could not sell my home
  • There was no way I could start another business in my late 40s
  • What would others think?
  • What if I failed?

And the list went on and on.

However, those were not reasons, they were excuses and if I had held onto them, I would not be living my best life like I am today.

All of us can live the life we most desire.

It may take some planning, it may require you to make a few hard choices and it will be a continual journey. However, in the end, it will bring you to the place you are supposed to be . . . your best life.

If a litany of excuses are filling your head from what you truly desire, identify them and begin to question why you are holding onto them so tightly.

Take time this week to identify those obstacles and determine how they can be removed, because you are worth it and life is too short to live otherwise.

On the journey with you,

Carlos
